SANTA'S WORKSHOP - Info on Longer Program held from Noon - 4pm:

Studio Art Center offers Santa's Workshop, Craft Making & Art Program on certain Saturdays in December for young people age 4 and up to come in and create a fine art painting and/or numerous arts and crafts projects.  Some older students often want to create paintings. In another section in the building the Gift Making & Crafts Program takes place with some of Santa's special elves.

Students make items such as small Christmas scenes which can become a centerpiece or a gift; Christmas ornaments; decorative birdhouses or Christmas houses; Christmas cards; jewelry or treasure boxes and jewelry items or other gifts to put in them; Angels and elves, Santas, Sugar plum fairies and other fun characters.  The items they choose to give as gifts are wrapped in colorful paper and ribbon and they create a card to go with them.

The gift making program begins at 12 Noon. and ends at 4 p.m.  Students are allowed to sign up for 1 hour to up to 3 hrs. at $10 per hour. Or students can sign up for all 4 hrs for $35.  A healthy snack and drink will be provided mid-afternoon, but will not include a full lunch. Parents are encouraged to feed student before the workshop and to send a sturdy bag with student's name on it to take all of their crafts home in.  This Holiday Workshop gives parents the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping while the kids enjoy a well-supervised quality art program for the afternoon.

Depending upon what size of a painting board the older students do their painting on, they also may have time to create a few crafts or gifts.  During the 2-4 hours most of the fine arts students will complete their paintings.  Those who choose the craft program often can complete from 5 to 8 projects.  Most materials are provided for the program. Each child needs to bring their own canvas, bird house, or other larger wood item to paint if they so choose. (we do have a limited supply of birdhouses, canvas and other larger wood items to purchase.) Items such as special boxes, hanging wall plaques and all the materials for making paintable christmas scenes are provivded.  Families are welcomed to visit the studio buildings ahead of time and see examples of all the projects their children get to choose from.

Cost for the 4-Hour Workshop is $35, (or $10 per hour for less than 4 hours). The price includes the cost of many wood products and other craft materials that they will use.  Most students staying for the longer program will create 5-8 different projects that can be used for home decor and gift giving.

Remember that the younger children (ages 2-5) can make an ornament or a card assisted by their Parent during the free 1/2 hour program that they can sign up for from 11:00am to 12:00. See the program below for more details! No drop-ins please!

You must register for a 1/2 time slot and accompany your child for this free program!

A special free Ornament Making Project and gift bags Program is being offered by Studio Art Center during the holiday season. This program is held on the same Saturday's as our Santa's Workshop and is a shorter program for families with young children 2 to 5 years of age. You must call to signup for a 1/2 hour time slot.

Parents bring their younger children for an opportunity to create their very own Christmas ornament to hang on their tree.  The project takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The children will receive a treat bag and a Christmas gift that they get to pick out from under the tree. After that the youngsters will sit at a craft table to decorate an ornament or Christmas card!  *Please keep in mind that the young children need to be accompanied by an adult who can help them make their ornament.

One of Santa's Helpers will also be there to assist parents and children during the program.  Children will be guided to create colorful Christmas Tree Ornaments and cards for special people during the 30 minute class.
